What do you enjoy most about working with cigars?
The people you meet.
What first interested you in cigars?
It was a celebratory cigar given to me by my Food & Beverage Director. I hadn't smoked one before and I loved it.
Do you remember your first cigar?
Montecristo No.2 in the mid-90's onboard the Carnival Celebration in the Caribbean.
What is the best piece of advice you have for someone just starting to smoke cigars?
Start light, smoke different sizes and work through the brands in terms of strength.
What are your favorite three cigars?
Bolivar Petit Belicosos LE 2009, Ramon Allones Phoencia 30 Sublimes and the Ramon Allones Specially Selected.
Has becoming a Master in Havana Cigars helped you in your profession?
For sure! I like the fact that the UK is raising the standard of knowledge for retailers and cigar sommeliers, it gives people another reason to buy in the UK. It was also the major reason for my invitation to the 2013 UK Habanosommelier competition (which I won) and entry to 2014 World Habanosommelier championship (in which I finished 2nd).
