Orange juice and lemonade as I'm always driving to somewhere when i then get the opportunity to light up and relax !
Obvious and somewhat predictable, but have yet to match anything better than Havana Club 7yr old with my favourite San Cristobal
Those san cristobals are a mighty fine strong smoke.
All depends on the mood.
Whiskey, Real Ale, Red Wine... not at the same however!
An Edmundo with a couple of pints of London Pride, paired with some inane banter with a couple of friends.... difficult to beat for me (at least where cigars & drinking are involved)http://cigars.co.uk/sites/all/modules/smileys/packs/example/wink.png
Couldn't agree with you more, :)
Couldn't agree with you more, :)
Hi mike. Sitting in the lobby bar of the sol rio in guardlavaca near holguin cuba drinking cubay cuba libre's with a Trinidad laguuito especial while the local band sing salsa tunes about che realy takes some beating!. But that said a quiet summer evening in the garden in sunny swindon smoking a romeo y juilieta short churchill and drinking havana club on ice isn't bad. mmmm sounds like a plan!.
A good well kept real ale for me at the moment Wadworths 6X, Abbot Ale etc. Such a good combination (which did surprise me a little). I have not bothered yet to try anything else; I have only been smoking cigars with any regularity since last October. However, I am sure this will change. Just give me time.
Paul.
I enjoyed a pint of Tribute ale with an El Rey del Mundo Petit Corona a couple of weeks ago. A carefully selected spirit might have worked, but it would have been all too easy to overpower that cigar without due care.
Can understand Drambuie but it's a real sipping drink so I'm afraid I would get through too much. It's Courvoisier or Hennesey for me. New to this people so am at point of sampling various, have done Spain where Cigars about half price compared to this country. Did Dom Rep also and found Cohiba Siglo 3's actually Cuban but really enjoyed them
I bought a lovely rum from Colombia - the Ron Viejo de Caldas eight year aged reserve that compliments a Fonseca Cosaco just beautifully. Both are just so smooth on the palette and it's just such a pleasure when the sun is out on a cloudless day.
Hi everyone!
I'm new here, what do you suggest with a Montecristo edmundo?
Between Rum(Matusalem reserva),Cognac(Hine cigar reserve)and a nice aged Port?
Those are my fav drinks.
Thank you very much for any suggestion
:):):)
I agree with SteveGrif, it all depends on the mood, occasion and cigar. However, I have always found a good crisp champagne the perfect accompaniment. On the other hand, port, red wine, whiskey and rum go down well. I have always found beer, larger or bitter no good. They always seem to 'wash away' the flavour of the smoke.
Going on the choice you have given me daviderenna I would go for the Hine (cigar reserve), but all three will work.
Like everything else in life I suppose if you are enjoying yourself you are doing it right!
My favourite has been a Lagavulin 16. It lends a touch of peatiness with an Epi 2.
Wilkes
That's a good shout Wilkes, but IMHO an Edmundo's spice would compliment the peatiness in the Lagavulin 16 a little better...
:)
On the other hand I have never enjoyed smoking cigars with anything that tastes of aniseed
A Partagas SP2 with a Whisky Mac sitting next to a roaring wood fire listening to Dvorak's New World Symphony on vinyl.
My children nowhere to be seen.
Happiness!
For me, it all depends on the mood, atmosphere and smoke itself.
That said... I recently had a PSD4 Tubo with an amaretto and ginger-ale. WOW!
If any of you haven't tried pairing a stick with an amaretto and ginger-ale cocktail... give it a shot! It won't dissapoint you...
The single best accompaniment i can find is Ron Zacapa 23yr old rum, it's in a league of it's own and fully compliments most cigars for me. Drink it straight up, no ice, at the end of a meal and you'll never look back. Yet to try the Centenary Zacapa, but will report back when I do.
Has to be Ron Zacap 23years... Shear pleasure with any good cigar.
Hi all,
Everything that I've read above sounds just fine guys congrats.
As for me, I'm enjoying a Bolivar corona extra with a fine rum which is from Puerto Rico and is called, Ron del Barrilito, 3 stars. Great with a fine Habano.
Cheers.
Here's one another - Bual Madeira - a bit tart but with sweetness perfect for medium strength cigars and more refreshing than port
I always find a good or 'bad' lady goes well with any Drew estate cigar, oh yes and a good single malt of course :)
Iam currently smoking a punch coronation with a lovely Robinson's brew, an old ale called "old Tom" a lovely old english winter warmer, dark and mellow in taste. New to the cigar world but I find this very strong beer a delight with the cigars i am discovering. Tomorrow night I shall partake in my partagas corona with another 330ml bottle of "old Tom"
charlie J. I do agree with your comments, I listen to music while I smoke my cigars and a nice drink (without the children) Elgar sospiri opus and Vaughen Williams are my choice, New world symphony is a good choice as well. All played on a beautiful Meridian system.
Music, like drinks, conversation and location can elevate even a standard cigar into something fantastic.
Gimme Ramón Allones or those no longer produced Saint Luis Rey Double Coronas along with my glass full of McCallan 12 YO Cask stgrenght or Woodford Reserve right form the heart of Kentucky. Santiago 11 YO will do great paired with Cohiba Genios as well!!!
Dalmore Gran Reserva also known as 'The cigar malt'
A habit which I first adcoped when smoking in the Churchill Room on a cruise on the QM2 - a double expresso and a good congnac - my preference being Remy Martin XO - warmed over a glass of hot water. Slipped down very nicely with a coule of Montecristo No2s which I was smoking at the time. All the better becasue you are sat in nice comfortable leather amrchair with a waiter on hand to bring you top ups when required. Now why aren't there places like that in London anymore?
Sadly the smoking ban has put an end to sitting indoors in a nice armchair in the corner of a bar enjoying a nice cigar, however places like the lanesborough hotel and ten manchester street have excellent outdoor areas with good service too, just as comfortable.
Leena .......totally agree Dalmore Gran Reserva & Cohiba Robusto = Heaven .....:)
